Registration and Participant Center FAQs
How do I register?
Click here to join a team or register as an individual.
If you participated last year or in any of our other events, then you have a username and password for our website. We recommend logging in before you register to make the process easy for you. The system will remember you and all of your past information, including edits to your personal pages.
If you are unable to attend the event, you can still be involved with the Ride as a virtual participant.
What are the costs involved, and what do they provide?
To participate in the Ride to Defeat ALS, each rider must pay the following registration fees during certain dates:
February 1st - March 31st: $45
April 1st - May 31st: $55
June 1st - July 30th: $65
August 1st - September 24th: $75
Each rider will also commit to raise a minimum of $250. The registration fee includes admission to the ride (distance of your choice), fully supported rest-stops, a T-Shirt, and lunch at the Longfellow Club. If you raise over $500, you will receive a 2017Ride to Defeat ALS cycling jersey.
Reaching the $250 minimum needs to be done by the day of the event. Contact us for fun tips or visit our fundraising tools page.
Please note: All participants, ages 16 and older, must meet the $250 fundraising minimum by the day of the event. 16 and younger participants must meet a minimum of $50 in fundraising.
I am a person with ALS. In what ways can I participate?
Registration fees are waived for persons with ALS. All people, including those with ALS, are still required to meet the $250 in fundraising. Contact us and we can help you register.
What is a Personal Page?
Your Personal Page is your online fundraising page. Once you've registered, a personal page is automatically created for you. You can customize this page with photos and your story about why you ride to defeat als.

How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
Login to your Participant Center. In the middle of the dashboard, you'll see your current goal. Below that, there is a link that will allow you to change your goal.
How can I see who has donated on my behalf?
Login to your Participant Center. Click the Progress tab at the top of the page, then scroll down to view your donor list. You can also download a list of your supporters from this page.
How can I enter a donation that someone has given me?
Please send in all checks to the chapter office:

When you send them, please make sure to include the rider name and donor name. We will add them to your fundraising total.
Where is the event?
The Longfellow Club, 524 Boston Post Rd, Wayland, MA 01778
Is there a Hotel near by?
The Host Hotel is the Boston Courtyard Marriot in Natick
Where's the parking?
Parking is on site at The Longfellow Club. There will be signage directing you where to park.
What time does the event start?
70 mile check-in: 6:30 a.m.with a 7:00 am start
50 mile check-in: 8:00 a.m.with an 8:30 am start
25 mile check-in: 9:30 a.m.with a 10:00 am start
10 mile check-in: 10:30 a.m. with a 11:00 am start
Followed by lunch and awards ceremony starting at 12:00 pm.
Are non-participating family and friends allowed to join me?
Absolutely! Family and friends are welcome to join us for a BBQ luncheon starting at 12:00 PM.
Are there additional charges to have a team?
No, but each member of the team is responsible for paying their individual registration fee and raising at least $250 in collected pledges from friends and family.
How many members must I have to form a team?
A team can be two people, twenty people, or more. This includes virtual participants as well.
As a team captain or member of a team, can I raise all the money and then distribute it to other members of my team?
We strongly discourage this. We believe the Ride to Defeat ALS is a transformative event. For many people, participating is a challenge. Whether it’s the physical challenge or the effort it takes to reach a fundraising goal, both components are part of the Ride to Defeat ALS experience. Having every participant raise funds makes charity events special. Everyone participating will have something in common - they provided hope to people living with ALS.
Team Captain FAQs
Please note, the features discussed below are only available to team captains.
How can I see who is on my team?
Login to your Participant Center, then click on View Team Roster from the navigation bar on the right side of the page.
How do I change the team name, team division, or team goal?
If you are the team captain, login to your Participant Center, select Team Page from the options along the top of the page. Under the Team Name (located in the area along the right side of your page), select Edit, change your team name as desired, then select Update.
How do I change my team's goal?
Login to your Participant Center and select the Progress tab at the top of the page. Once there, select Team on the right side of the page. In the middle of the page, it will show your team's goal. Click 'Edit' and enter your team goal.
How do I broadcast a message to my entire team?
Login to your Participant Center. On the left hand side of the dashboard select Email Team.
Will I get a t-shirt for volunteering?
Yes! You'll receive a t-shirt when you check-in at the event. Please wear it as it will help participants know that you're there to help.
Do I have to raise funds to volunteer?
No. There is no fundraising minimum to volunteer, but those wishing to fundraise get a personal page online to help them reach their fundraising goals.
My friends are participating and I plan to volunteer and raise funds. Can I join their team?
Yes! Just contact us and we'll assign you to their team.
