Hi Everyone!

Team O'Brien will be participating in the North Shore Walk to Defeat ALS on October 6, 2019 at Endicott College. Hard to believe this will be our 9th time walking for my Mom. Thanks for all the love and support over the years! Hope to see you there!

My Mom, Lynne O'Brien, was diagnosed with ALS in July of 2011. I was 19 had just finished my freshman year at UMass Amherst at the time, and didn't know much about the disease. As many with experience with this disease can attest, I learned quick, whether I was ready for it or not. Thankfully, my Mom, Dad, Sister, and I are surrounded by incredible support system of family and friends who have been with us on this journey since  day one of my Mom's diagnosis.

Since then, I have been inspired by so many in the ALS community who bring hope to this otherwise hopeless disease. Events like the Northshore Walk to Defeat ALS not only raise money to find a cure and support people of the ALS community, but bring a community of people together to spread awareness, celebrate those who have lost their battle to the disease, and stand behind those who are still fighting against ALS.

Over 8 years later, team O'Brien (with the help of Springfest and the great people at UMass!) has helped raise close to $100,000 to defeat ALS. That type of money can make a difference to so many families struggling with this disease--a real, meaningful difference. The financial burden, (nevermind the emotional burden) can be overwhelming for ALS patients and their caretakers. These dollars we raise make a huge impact, and even if we are still searching for a cure, I am confident we one day will so no one will have to experience this disease again. I cannot thank those who have donated and walked with us over the years. Your support means the world to my Mom and my family and will never go unnoticed or unappreciated. Much love as always.
